摘要: Actinic keratoses are unsightly and may be precancerous. Solitary or localized lesions respond adequately to many forms of treatment. However, widespread multiple actinic can best treated with topical 5-fluorouracil. The exact mode action is not known, but we presume it related the clearly established effect this drug upon RNA DNA synthesis. This treatment almost ideal, since usually destroys selectively, without significant alteration in normal skin. A 1 2 percent solution made by diluting 10 ml ampule propylene glycol. liquid applied two times daily involved areas for a 2–4 week period. Lesions on face neck more quickly than those hands arms. brisk, painful, inflammatory reaction at site anticipated used as an indicator end point Once discontinued, erythema subsides weeks skin becomes smooth free keratoses. Not all respond, untoward reactions such phototoxicity, irritation mucous membranes, contact sensitivity, pigmentation occur. Although resolution persists years, should they return reapplication effective again.
