摘要: Cone-beam imaging is an X-ray based volume acquisition method providing 3D images of the head. The reconstructed "isotropic"; spatial resolution varies according to material, equaling or exceeding that CT but with a much lower radiation intensity. drawbacks comprise reduced signal-to-noise ratio and poor density precluding soft-tissue exploration, notably tumoral processes. This technique very effective for study inflammatory infectious processes In dental its intrinsic qualities enable screening sinusitis origin precision unobtainable on CT. will, in near future, become reference examination sinus assessment. Finally, this technique, at least using most powerful apparatuses, seems promising ear pathology exploration. First applications chronic otitis, dysplasia, deformity trauma have been encouraging. Its low sensitivity metallic artifacts makes it choice follow-up cochlear implants.
