Genetic etiology of nuclear cataract: evidence for a major gene.

摘要: Sibling correlations and segregation analysis were used to examine the familial distribution of age-sex-adgusted measures nuclear sclerosis in 1,247 individuals from 564 sibships Beaver Dam Eye Study. There are highly significant sibling for all sibs, separately sister-sister, sister-brother, brother-brother pairs. Two transformed normal distributions give best fit data. The hypothesis mendelian transmission a major effect cannot be rejected, but random environmental effrect is rejectd. parameters τAB free model showed close similarity values expected under hypothesis. Our results suggest that single gene can account 35% total variability age-sex-adjusted sclerosis. © 1993 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
