摘要: We recently identified a novel tumor-suppressor gene, DPC4 , at chromosome 18q21.1 and found that both alleles of were inactivated in nearly one-half the pancreatic carcinomas. Here, we analyzed 338 tumors, originating from 12 distinct anatomic sites, for alterations gene. Sixty-four specimens selected presence allelic loss 18q further sequence alterations. An alteration gene was one eight breast carcinomas ovarian These results indicate whereas inactivation is prevalent carcinoma (48%), it distinctly uncommon (<10%) other tumor types examined. The tissue restriction as many genes, emphasizes complexity rate-limiting checkpoints human tumorigenesis.
