摘要: The discovery of neural stem cells (NSCs) in the mammalian brain has raised many expectations as these unique might recapitulate different neurological diseases, including tumors, both from a functional and molecular perspective. Proper vitro culturing NSCs emerged critical methodological issue, given that it should preserve vivo features NSCs, with particular emphasis on cell heterogeneity. At same time, methodology for NSC allow production large amounts to be exploited not only prospective clinical applications, but also drug screening. Direct selection and, very recently, cancer (CSCs) by means defined serum-free conditions represents most reliable obtain long-term expanding SC lines. Here we describe methods currently employed enrich NSCs/CSCs based NeuroSphere Assay (NSA) their adaptation specific assays testing efficacy neuroactive compounds.
