Mammalian Remains in the Pellets of Long-eared Owls (Asio otus) in Diyarbakır Province

摘要: This study was conducted with the pellets of Long-eared Owls from 2 sites in area Dicle University Campus, located north-eastern part Diyarbakir Province, Turkey (lat 37°55'N, long 40°12'E). Pellets were collected at monthly intervals July 2000 to June 2001 and remains 310 prey items recovered 211 pellets. The assemblages composed mostly small mammals. Eight species mammals belonging orders (Insectivora: Crocidura suaveolens, Rodentia: Microtus guentheri, sp., Mus musculus, Meriones tristrami, Cricetus cricetus, Rattus rattus, Nannospalax ehrenbergi) identified Owl Rodentia found be dominant, which accounted for 95.48% remains. most important Owl's food consisted mammals, especially Microtines. guentheri particular importance, representing 71.29% Living samples could not been trapped or observed this area, but shows that analysis regurgitated is a valuable tool inventorying
