摘要: Background Previous twin studies have supported a genetic contribution to the major categories of psychotic disorders, but few these employed operational diagnostic criteria, and no such study has been based on sample that included full range functional disorders. Methods A total 224 probands (106 monozygotic, 118 dizygotic) with same-sex co-twin lifetime history psychosis was ascertained from service-based Maudsley Twin Register in London, England. Research Diagnostic Criteria diagnoses were made lifetime-ever basis. Main-lifetime DSM-III-R International Statistical Classification Diseases, 10th Revision schizophrenia also made. Probandwise concordance rates correlations liability calculated, biometrical model fitting applied. Results substantial variance confirmed for except depressive unspecified psychosis, where familial transmission confirmed, relative common environmental factors unclear. Heritability estimates schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, mania, all between 82% 85%. None differed significantly any other. Conclusions mania similar. Population morbid risk inferred rather than directly measured, results very similar those risks estimated.
