摘要: The number of people needing chronic disease care is projected to increase in sub-Saharan Africa as a result expanding human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) treatment coverage, rising life expectancies, and lifestyle changes. Using nationally representative data healthcare facilities, Di Giorgio et al. found that many HIV clinics Kenya, Uganda, Zambia appear have considerable untapped capacity provide for additional patients. These findings highlight the potential increasing efficiency clinical processes at facility level. Important questions future research are how estimates comparative technical across facilities change, when they adjusted quality composition patients by complexity. Looking ahead, substantial investment will be needed ensure we do not forgo opportunity learn efficiency changes, becoming increasingly differentiated patient type integrated diseases health systems functions.
