摘要: Background and purpose Injuries frequently occur in competitive wrestling, with the elbow joint representing about 25% of all injuries. Specific to elbow, ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) can be injured traumatically from takedowns wrestling. In athletes complete UCL tears, surgical management is often recommended nonoperative resulting less favorable outcomes. The this case report present a criterion-based rehabilitation program for high school wrestler tear elbow. Case description A 17-year-old male presented outpatient physical therapy sustained falling on an outstretched hand during wrestling match. He limited range motion (ROM), medial instability, weakness involved shoulder forearm musculature. three staged protocol was developed subject based specific criteria, including pain, ROM, arm strength, functional Outcomes treated nine visits over six weeks, demonstrated improvements strength tests upper extremity, flexion improving most by 58%. Return sport (RTS) were used assess subject's ability return practice. At approximately eight weeks after initial injury, able full participation no reports pain or instability. Discussion Through utilization safely progress back without instability accelerated time frame. Previously, detailed guidelines injuries contact sports have been described. Additionally, few studies exist which inclusion RTS testing following injury as optimal determining readiness sport. Level evidence 4, Report.
