摘要: Abstract • A mutator system is described in maize that results an approximately 30-fold increase the seedling mutation rate. This rate found to be stable for at least two generations. The transmission of characteristic does not follow a simple Mendelian pattern. In outcrosses, which one-gene model would predict 50 percent progeny should possess mutator, nearly 100 offspring showed mutability. Several hypotheses are considered as explanations observed Data bearing on couple these considered. To date, evidence seem rule out only one alternatives.
