摘要: In the past few years there has been an explosive increase in interest peptides of insulin-like growth factor (IGF) family. This follows a period over two decades, dating back to discovery “somatomedins,” as IGFs were originally known, late 1950s. Independent research groups isolated and characterized with three apparently unrelated biological activities: “sulfation factor,” that stimulate proteoglycan synthesis cartilage; “nonsuppressible activity,” ability mimic various actions insulin, such stimulation glucose oxidation by fat cells; “multiplication-stimulating activity” or MSA, promote cell replication (Baxter, 1986). time it was realized all these properties fact possessed groups; these, turn, eventually categorized, on basis their primary sequences, into peptide groups, IGF-I IGF-II. For example, MSA is now regarded rat IGF-II (Marquardt et al., 1981). Although have suggestions different IGF classes (such “fetal somatomedins”) might exist, can be concluded from recent protein cDNA sequencing studies that, notwithstanding many proven predicted structural variants each type, known may classified either
