β-Crystallins insolubilized by calpain II in vitro contain cleavage sites similar to β-crystallins insolubilized during cataract

摘要: Incubation of soluble proteins from rat lens with the protease calpain II caused precipitation β-crystallin polypeptides. Two-dimensional electrophoresis and sequence analysis identified polypeptides both before after their by II. precipitated were cleaved at NH2-terminal extensions. These cleavage sites similar to occurring in during formation experimental cataract induced an overdose selenite. data suggested that insolubilization formation, indicated process can be mimicked vitro.
