摘要: It has been hypothesized that sexual ornaments communicate pathogen resistance ability. We experimentally explored the relationship between expression of a male ornamental trait (wing pigmentation) damselfly Hetaerina titia and survival after bacterial challenge. infected males with Serratia marcescens (a Gram-negative bacteria typical insects) compared against group dead noninfected group. Wing pigmentation was entered as predictor in this comparison. Our study indicated wing not good immune ability bacteria. This result contradicts previous findings same other calopterygid species which intensity inversely correlated gregarine infection levels. also general idea are honest indicators defense.
