摘要: A basic blood–brain barrier (BBB) function is to eliminate the passage of macromolecules, microbial pathogens, and circulating leukocytes into central nervous system. This BBB serves a primary purpose provide highly controlled stable metabolic milieu required for uninterrupted CNS function. Several pathophysiological conditions, including brain trauma, meningitis, neurodegenerative disorders such as multiple sclerosis, have been associated with permanent or transient breakdown. In addition, research in past two decades has shown that disruption can play an active role evolution ischemia–reperfusion injury after global focal cerebral ischemia spinal stroke.
