摘要: Several studies have shown concern over nitrate and nitrite contamination of prepared infant formula used by infants less than six months old, as it may lead to methemoglobinemia death. One possible source is through the use improperly treated drinking water. Contamination water could result from fertilizers manure runoff, not fully released human industrial waste, or disinfection processes. In United Arab Emirates (UAE), bottled major be for preparation formula. Therefore, in this study, several brands that are sold on UAE market, formula, were tested other anions show their compatibility with permissible levels States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), Food Drug Administration/Code Federal Regulations FDA/CFR), international organizations. All samples demonstrated nitrate, nitrite, below accepted U.S. EPA, FDA/CFR, organizations, except one sample showed exceeding European Commission Drinking Water Directive (EC/DWD) levels. Such study sheds light quality only region, but also countries, such France, since some them imported. addition, results shed effectiveness treatment processes sources can affect health infants.
