摘要: To identify the risk factors for small gestational age (SGA) babies. The present study was a nested case control which carried out by two Medical Officers of Health areas (The field level administrative unit responsible provision preventive and promotive health services) in Colombo district. SGA babies were identified using ‘weight age’ curves developed Sri Lankan Newborns 1,200 pregnant women, who within first 8 wk amenorrhea delivered selected hospitals included study. Sample size calculated as n = 167 cases 4 n = 668 controls, with four controls each case. A defined newborn whose birth weight less than 10th percentile age, being between 90th age. Multivariate analysis 7 significant as, number live born children = 0, inadequate gain during pregnancy according to initial BMI, maximum minimum physical work, mother’s pre-pregnant 38 kg, high stress at second trimester, presence induced hypertension (PIH) support from husband. indicate directions planning intervention programs.
