摘要: A positron emission tomography camera having a plurality of detector rings positioned side-by-side or offset by one-half the cross section around patient area to detect radiation therefrom. Each ring contains scintillation detectors which are an inner circumference with septum extending inwardly from along each outer edge ring. An additional is in middle and parallel other septa whereby inward extent all may be reduced number required reduced. includes photomultiplier tubes crystals relative tube responsive more than one crystal. alternate crystal less thickness such that staggered seen tube. This sharing allows identification use smaller shared larger thereby requiring tubes, creating scanning slices, providing better data sampling, reducing cost camera. The geometry combined reduces improves its performance.
