摘要: Purpose: To try and identify biologic differences based on tumor grade histologic type between the major classes of glial tumors, including low-grade diffuse fibrillary andpilocytic astrocytomas, oligodendrogliomas, mixed oligo-astrocytomas, andhigh-grade oligo-astrocytomas.Methods: Utilizing St. Anne-Mayo (SAM) grading system, incidence, patient characteristics, survivals 196 patientswith (SAM 1 + 2) 318 patients with high-grade(SAM 3 4) supratentorial tumors were compared. Results: Among most favorable 5- 10-year survival rates for pilocytic astrocytomas, which 85% 79%, respectively. Median survivaland other lower, proportionately improved by presenceof an oligodendroglial component: astrocytomas — 4.7 years, 46%, 17%; oligodendroglioma 9.8 73%, 49%; oligo-astrocytoma 7.1 63%, 33%, For high-grade either oligodendrogliomas or oligo-astrocytomas had comparablefavorable in comparison to astrocytomas.Median 4.5 45%, 15% versus 0.8 3%, 0% forthe respectively. Conclusion: These data suggest that both gliomas have outcomes which are highly dependent upon type.
