摘要: A Priabonian (late Eocene) neoselachian fauna of sharks and rays is known from marine strata in the foothills Minqar Tabaghbagh, near southwestern corner Qattara Depression Western Desert Egypt. Neoselachian remains were collected lower glauconitic shales mudstones Daba’a Formation, which a western equivalent Qasr El-Sagha Formation found eastern part Desert. Neoselachians studied here are macro-scale, on surface, either teeth or rostral remains. Taxonomic evaluation shows that neoselachians belong to five orders, 11 families, 19 genera, 24 species. The species are: Hexanchus agassizi, Carcharias sp., Otodus cf. O. sokolowi, Brachycarcharias B. twiggsensis, Macrorhizodus praecursor, Xiphodolamia serrata, Alopias alabamensis, Abdounia aff. A. minutissima, Misrichthys stromeri, Carcharhinus sp. 1, 2, Galeocerdo Negaprion frequens, Physogalus Rhizoprionodon Anoxypristis Propristis schweinfurthi, Pristis lathami, Myliobatis an indeterminate sting ray spine. Teeth sokolowi praecursor most abundant recovered locality. Recovery serrata confirms late Eocene age faunal Tabaghbagh assemblage. previously only Tethyan deposits central north Africa Asia, reported Egypt for first time. Taxa base have been Iran, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Angola, Nigeria, Europe, North America. important stratigraphically because it enables surface subsurface correlation sedimentary across Arabian Peninsula Asia east, African sites farther west south.
