Easier removal of nonylphenol and naphthalene pollutants in wet weather revealed by Markov chains modeling

摘要: The distribution and fate of organic pollutants determines pollution control strategies definition environmental standards. So far, few models predict accurately the pollutants. Therefore, here we tested Markov chains model to simulate nonylphenol naphthalene in aquatic environment. Results show that removal from water/sediment system is higher wet season lower dry season. Due its hydrophilic hydroxyl group, remains water, whereas naphthalene, being more hydrophobic, accumulates sediment. modeling perfectly matched results microcosm experiments.
