摘要: Abstract Zinc layered hydroxide salt was intercalated with indigo carmine (IC) anions, transforming a soluble dye into an insoluble pigment. The obtained material characterized by X ray powder diffraction, where basal distance of 19.07 A obtained. DFT simulation showed that the groups are held electrostatic and hydrogen bonds to water molecules positioned in tetrahedral zinc apex. Fourier transform infrared UV–Vis spectra confirmed intermolecular broken, intramolecular prevail compound. Thermal analysis curves (thermogravimetry – TGA differential scanning calorimetry DSC) IC is stable up 350 °C mass loss consistent expected compound formula (Zn 5 (OH) 8 (IC)·H 2 O). presents crystals micrometer sizes, as shown electron microscopy, consists novel blue pigment mimicking Maya pigment, having potential industrial applications.
