Assessing Students' Perceptions of Psychology as a Science: Validation of a Self-Report Measure

摘要: Training in psychology emphasizes the scientific method as basis for knowledge claims about thought and behavior. Students are regularly evaluated terms of their mastery methodological statistical principles, but little attention has been paid to assessing degree which students endorse notion that is, indeed, a science. Several studies reported validate self-report measure this construct. The Psychology Science Scale is shown be reliable predicts range construct-relevant attitudinal performance criteria. Possible research uses measure, well broader issues surrounding general public's epistemological assumptions concerning psychology, discussed.
