摘要: This article highlights trends that show the influence of age, education, IQ, gender, and alcohol abuse on Halstead-Reitan Neuropsychological Test Battery (HRB) performance. These factors must be considered as possible competing hypotheses might account for a patient's HRB scores among normal, community-living persons can resemble individuals with known neuropsychological impairment due only to effects these variables. Accordingly, when clinical neuropsychologists use "levels current performance" or research based "cut-off score" methods make inferences about adequacy brain function, appropriate comparison norms used minimize likelihood false-positive errors. paper summarizes provides references some norms. Additionally, robust estimates premorbid ability are essential one is making inferences. Such obtained from nationally standardized measures intellectual found most grade high school transcripts, well Scholastic Aptitude Test, military, related aptitude test scores, plus individual's social occupational history.
