摘要: FOLLOWING the proof that mutant changes at one locus (t) occur rather frequently in laboratory stocks of mice kept balanced lethal condition1 T/tn, we turned our attention to problem whether such mutations are be found also wild populations. In had detected only which already contained a t-allele this locus; containing T (brachyury = short tail) been under continuous observation since 1932, but no occurrence mutation (revealed by tailless condition T/tn) detected. Seven different t-alleles were and isolated1 testing rare normal-tailed exceptions after inbreeding balanced-lethal stock T/t1. All proved t/tx, tx being new allele locus. This suggested arisen either recombination or rearrangement complex t (Dunn, 1954) t1 induced allele. The fact mutants from each other gametes normal (+) was taken as evidence against hypothesis. thus appeared unstable stocks. A question interest there any populations remote few laboratories maintained.
