摘要: Using tritiated amino acid autoradiography, the efferent projections of anterior hypothalamic area (AHA) were studied in albino rats. Axons from AHA neurons not confined to local hypothalamus. Ascending axons ran through preoptic region, joined diagonal band and distributed lateral septum. Descending efferents within hypothalamus coursed a bundle ventromedial fornix. Projections observed dorsomedial, ventromedial, arcuate dorsal premammillary nuclei, median eminence. Sweeping dorsomedially posterior hypothalamus, some central grey. staying ventral projected supramammillary tegmental area, raphe nuclei midbrain reticular formation. Other periventricular thalamus, medial amygdala via stria terminalis or supraoptic commissure, habenula medullaris. For comparison with AHA, paraventricular nucleus (PVN) adjacent basal (VMR) studied. PVN restricted eminence neurohypophysis. also many same regions as did those but had somewhat different fiber trajectories longer descending projections. VMR more widespread than extending into zona incerta pontine formation. Projections distinct (mPOA). For example, while descended fornix, mPOA forebrain bundle. Such anatomical differences may underlie experimentally demonstrated functional between for instance, mediation male female sex behaviors.
