摘要: The cytologic appearance of fine needle aspiration (FNA) specimens emanating from both symptomatic and incidental masses the adrenal glands in 22 patients who attended a large cancer institution 1976 to 1981 is described. Eligibility for study required thorough clinical radiologic follow-up at least two years following initial diagnosis. Histologic ultrastructural correlations were performed when possible. Nine found have benign lesions, including five cysts, adenomas, one nodular hyperplasia myelolipoma. Thirteen had malignant which six primary tumors, either neuroblastoma (two) or adrenocortical carcinoma (four). overall sensitivity FNA detecting presence malignancy was 85%, while number correctly classified all 90%. test 100% specific lesions. It concluded that safe simple procedure with high degree accuracy. Its use appears be especially justified those neoplasms nonadrenal sites, whom silent lesions are detected during surveys metastatic disease.
