Gene arrangement in sea star mitochondrial DNA demonstrates a major inversion event during echinoderm evolution

摘要: Abstract The mitochondrial (mt) DNA from the sea star Pisaster ochraceus has been isolated, restriction-mapped, and cloned into plasmid vectors. Both ribosomal RNA genes, genes for 12 of 13 proteins, 11 tRNA have localized by sequence analyses. arrangement is markedly different that seen in urchin DNA. A segment molecule extending pro , including cluster, ND1 ND2 16S inverted relation to genome. resulting gene order 12S ND 2, 1, COI . As a result inversion, transcriptional polarity are opposite genes. other mapped here same as urchin.
