摘要: The nucleotide sequence of a 3849-bp fragment starfish mitochondrial genome was determined. genes for NADH dehydrogenase subunits 3, 4, 5, and COIII, three kinds (tRNA(UCNSer), tRNA(His), tRNA(AGYSer) were identified by comparing with the other animal mitochondria so far elucidated. gene arrangement different from those vertebrate insect genomes. Comparison protein-encoding sequences suggested unique genetic code in genome; both AGA AGG (arginine universal code) serine, AUA (isoleucine but methionine most systems) isoleucine, AAA (lysine) asparagine. It also inferred that these codons are decoded serine originally corresponding to AGC AGU codons. This situation is similar case Drosophila genome.
