摘要: Artificial cells are prepared in the laboratory for medical and biotechnological applications. Encapsulated being studied treatment of diabetes, liver failure, other conditions. More recently, there have been extensive studies into use encapsulated genetically engineered gene therapy. We recently found that daily orally administered artificial cells, each containing a microorganism, can lower elevated urea level uremic rats to normal levels. This may solve final obstacle lack an effective oral removal system simple inexpensive uremia. is important because 85% world's population cannot afford standard dialysis. Other areas cell application include hemoperfusion. Red blood substitutes based on modified hemoglobin already Phase 3 clinical trials patients. enzymes developed trial hereditary enzyme deficiency disease diseases. They also investigated drug delivery applications biotechnology, chemical engineering, medicine.
