Comparison of neurocognition between drug-free patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

摘要: It is often difficult to make a differential diagnosis between schizophrenia and bipolar disorder because of the overlapping symptoms. The patients both disorders have been shown neurocognitive deficits. In this study, computerized battery tasks, COGLAB, was administered four participant groups: 30 with positive schizophrenia, 22 negative 27 disorder, 28 normal controls. All were drug-free for at least 1 month. tasks included Mueller-Lyer illusion, reaction time, size estimation, variant Wisconsin Card Sorting Test, backward masking, Asarnow continuous performance. Discriminant analyses used investigate differences among groups. Results indicated that COGLAB correctly classified 73.5% cases disorder. best discriminative card sort, performance, masking. results study also compared previous medicated patients. Neurocognitive had better power than Moreover, medication effects did not seem significantly change pattern task responses schizophrenia.
