摘要: Summary Upon excitation by ultraviolet radiation (UV), plant foliage exhibits a blue-green fluorescence (BGF). In order to assess the prevalence and variability of this we examined UV-induced from surfaces 35 species comprising seven life forms (grasses/sedges, conifers, herbaceous dicotyledons, succulents, palms, woody deciduous evergreen dicotyledons) growing in Tempe, AZ, USA. Excitation (260–380 nm) emission (400–600 spectra adaxial abaxial five non-stressed plants each were measured with spectrofluorometer. When excited UV all had violet blue peaks (range = 405475 nm; mean 443 ± 1nm (SE), =442 1nm), while about third also welldefined green peak 510–550nm; 523 Inm, 524 1nm) one yellow at 568 nm. Fluorescence ranged 285–370 nm (mean 342 341 among surveyed species. There was significant positive correlation between wavelengths (r 0.66), as well 0.97). To quantify compare intensities determined yield index (FYI) calculated energy divided total incident energy. The FYI varied over an magnitude On average, grasses/sedges succulents significantly greater FYIs than other forms.
