Energy efficient Wi-Fi management for smart devices

摘要: Data communication is a significant component of smart device energy consumption today, and likely to increase with the rising connectivity demands today's mobile applications. Wi-Fi major supporting technology as such, efficient management solutions are much needed. In this paper, we detail characteristics propose two saving schemes: packing alignment, implementable at application layer. Our investigations also reveal that these schemes highly reliant on network metric - available bandwidth, which not readily obtainable smartphones existing wired ill-suited due dynamics wireless environment, well constraint devices. Therefore, new bandwidth measurement tool called BreezChirp. As validation, implemented both BreezChirp modern Andriod evaluated their performance through field experiments.
