摘要: We present the signal gain, wavelength tuning characteristics, saturation properties, and noise figure (NF) of MEMS-based widely tunable vertical-cavity semiconductor optical amplifiers (VCSOAs) for various cavity designs, we compare theoretical results to data generated from a number experimental devices. Using general Fabry-Pe/spl acute/rot relationships, it is possible model both characteristics peak gain amplifiers, while rate-equation analysis used describe output power NF as function VCSOA resonant wavelength. Additionally, basic design principles an integrated electrostatic actuator are outlined. It found that MEMS-tunable VCSOAs follow many same trends fixed-wavelength However, with devices, effects varying mirror reflectance single-pass associated mechanism lead changing amplifier properties over span device.
