摘要: 1 SUMMARY This study was carried out with the aim of updating fauna ectoparasites infesting domestic animals in Northern Nigeria. The covered a period 15 years (1990 to 2005) and utilised record samples brought Veterinary Entomology Laboratory Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, by clients from different parts Total parasite submitted were 931, negative 407 (43.72%), positive 524 (56.28%) following pests: lice, 104 (11.28%); ticks, 146 (15.68%); mites, 221 (23.74%), flea 36 (3.90%) myiatic larvae, 17 (1.82%). Seasonal distribution revealed peak periods for majority parasites be at onset end rainy season. most abundant each groups included Amblyomma variegatum (tick), Manecanthus stramineus (lice), Demodex canis (mite), Ctenocephalides felis (flea) Oestrus ovis (myiatic larvae). high all year round suggests need strategic control measures order ensure good health this region.
