摘要: Purpose To evaluate whole-body positron emission tomography (PET)/computed in staging of patients with metastatic choroidal melanoma. Design Interventional non-randomized clinical study. Methods Twenty were referred for 18-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) PET/computed imaging because suspected images studied the presence and distribution Subsequent biopsies performed to confirm disease. Results underwent tomography. Eighteen imaged abnormal clinical, hematologic, or radiographic screening studies during course their follow-up after plaque brachytherapy enucleation. Two before treatment primary tumor. revealed confirmed melanoma eight (40%) these 20 patients. The mean time from initial diagnosis metastasis was 47 months (range 0 154). most common sites metastases liver (100%), bone (50%), lung (25%), lymph nodes subcutaneous tissue (25%). Cardiac, brain, thyroid, posterior abdominal wall lesions (12.5%) also noted. Six (75%) had multiple organ involvement. No false positives detected benign three (15%). All hepatic enzyme assays only one Conclusions is a sensitive tool detection localization extra-hepatic (particularly osseous)
