摘要: The role of sympathetic nerves in bone physiology is largely unknown. Recent studies have shown a correlation between sympathectomy and remodeling. present experiments were aimed to study the effects unilateral on bilateral experimentally induced pulpitis periapical lesions rat maxilla mandible. Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats used. Experimental (n=11) had right superior cervical ganglion surgically removed (SCGx) control (n=5) sham surgery. Pulpal inflammation mandible created 14 days later both experimental by exposing dental pulp first second molars leaving them open oral microflora. perfused 20 thereafter jaws processed for immunohistochemistry with neuropeptide Y (NPY) ED1 as primary antibodies. Sympathectomy resulted an almost complete loss NPY-immunoreactive (IR) fibers SCGx jaws. In non-sympathectomized (non-SCGx) left side rats, sprouting NPY-IR fiber was observed inflamed tissue adjacent reparative dentin formation apical periodontal ligament partially necrotic molars. Significantly more ED1-IR osteoclasts found resorptive lacunae lining periphery compared non-SCGx (P<0.04) controls (P<0.03). size larger (P<0.03) mandible, but not maxilla. We conclude that causes nerve removal SCG increases area number region.
