摘要: Erythropoeitin (Ep) is the glycoprotein hormone that controls red blood cell production in mammals. Erythropoietin synthesis regulated by feedback mechanisms involving tissue oxygen tension. Since work of Jacobson et al. (12), kidney was known to be major site Ep (see Ref. 13). Within kidney, identity cells responsible for has remained controversial. Immunofluorescence data (8), and glomerular (3, 4) mesangial (15) culture studies supported a origin renal Ep-producing cells. On contrary, nonglomerular origin, is, tubular or interstitial, suggested based on fractions (19). Using situ hybridization techniques, we recently demonstrated were peritubular murine hypoxic cortex (16).
