摘要: Background The effect on neuropsychological function of antiretroviral drugs that are able to penetrate into the brain in effective concentration (neuroactive drugs) remains unclear. Objective To investigate whether highly active therapy (HAART) containing neuroactive is associated with better performance patients human immunodeficiency virus disease. Design Cross-sectional survey. Setting Tertiary referral hospital outpatient clinics. Patients study population consisted 97 individuals positive for (stage C3, 1993 Centers Disease Control and Prevention classification) whose condition had been stable their current HAART regimen a mean ± SD 18.5 ± 16.5 months who were aged 48.14 ± 9.38 years. patient groups analyzed according contained 3 or more (neuroHAART group; n = 41) not (HAART n = 56). Thirty seronegative men matched age education recruited as controls. Main Outcome Measure Neuropsychological 7 cognitive domains. Results neuroHAART did differ from one another performance, but both impaired compared Impaired each treatment group compared, showed significantly memory unrelated plasma viral load, than group. Conclusion No direct benefit was found advanced infection. However, neuropsychologically patients, there function. This suggests threshold impairment required HAART.
