摘要: BACKGROUND Sclerosants are used to treat vascular malformations. Owing variations in the flow, injected concentrations and duration of exposure these sclerosants altered. Therefore, clinical effectiveness sclerotherapy is variable. OBJECTIVE The objective was evaluate differences response, usually observed among ethanol, polidocanol, OK-432, using an vitro model. METHODS Endothelial cells were cultured exposed different for 5 seconds remaining viable counted a MTT assay kit. Dyes visualize morphologic changes. Precipitant formation blood also evaluated. Finally, degree ICAM-1 expression, after lower sclerosants, studied immunocytochemistry. RESULTS Only ethanol causes precipitant kills almost all from 30% concentration. Polidocanol begins disrupt cell membrane 0.0125% onward. OK-432 induces expression. CONCLUSION Ethanol's strong precipitant-forming effect may induce thromboembolism, thus enhancing sclerosis. Polidocanol's endothelial cell-lysing clearly documented. mediate its by inducing inflammatory response endothelium via This model be useful evaluating other as well.
