摘要: • Several recent investigations have raised the possibility that sensitivity of α2-adrenergic receptor may be etiologic importance in depression. To assess whether abnormalities presynaptic exist depressed patients not taking drugs, effects an α2agonist, clonidine, on plasma 3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenelethyleneglycol (MHPG) and blood pressure (BP) were evaluated 15 12 healthy controls similar age. The ability clonidine to increase growth hormone (GH) secretion was also assessed. effect MHPG BP different between controls. However, GH response blunted patients. These results suggest depression (1) is abnormal, (2) postsynaptic adrenergic receptors decreased.
