Interpretations of corporate environmental policy: Challenges for environmental communication and action

摘要: That products give rise to environmental impact during all stages of their life cycle, from raw material extraction waste handling, is something that increasingly recognised in society. Expressions stating an ambition include a cycle perspective the work industry have also spread corporate policies. In this research we are interested how such ambitions put into practice industry. Life related not only matter for department. Actions taken in, example, product development, sourcing and marketing may influence perspective. By interviewing managers as well representatives operative business units two companies (Stora Enso SCA) found considerable differences interpretations concept policies within organisations. This despite fact both central part more than ten years continuous engagements with, assessments (LCA). The paper examines relations between expressed companies' policies, these understood various units, what actually done improve performance results show examples diverging fragmented understanding throughout process. It leads analysis role policy discussion about challenges communication action.
