摘要: The poultry red mite Dermanyssus gallinae is best known as a threat to the laying-hen industry; adversely affecting production and hen health welfare throughout globe, both directly through its role disease vector. Nevertheless, D. being increasingly implemented in dermatological complaints non-avian hosts, suggesting that significance may extend beyond poultry. main objective of current work was review potential wider veterinary medical threat. Results demonstrated that, an avian mite, unsurprisingly occasional pest pet birds. However, research also supports these mites will feed from range other animals including: cats, dogs, rodents, rabbits, horses man. We conclude although reported cases infesting mammals are relatively rare, when coupled with genetic plasticity this species evidence permanent infestations on for host-expansion exist. impact of, mechanisms risk factors such expansion discussed, suggestions further made. Given severity any level gallinae, we should be urgently conducted confirm full extent posed by (non-avian) sectors.
