摘要: BACKGROUND: The mortality rate of ovarian cancer is greater than that all other major gynecologic malignancies. Detecting at an early and curable stage long has been objective oncologists. Recently, it was reported certain symptom patterns are informative for the presence malignancy. In this article, authors report on how symptoms ultrasound predict malignancy. METHODS: Two hundred seventy-two women who were participating in annual transvaginal sonography (TVS) screening selected from among 31,748 enrolled. Symptom results correlated with surgical pathology findings. RESULTS: TVS performed better analysis detecting malignancies (sensitivity, 73.3% vs 20%), distinguishing benign tumors (specificity, 91.3% 74.4%). The use TVS series resulted poorer identification malignancy 16.7%) but improved ability to distinguish 97.9%). Decisions using either or combined parallel had small increases sensitivity (+3.3%) coordinated, decreases specificity (−5.8%). CONCLUSIONS: Symptoms did identify malignancies, not as well TVS. current findings indicated that: 1) negative by both a index likely be >97%), 2) adding information weight equal only slightly improves discrimination (sensitivity increase, +3.3%). Thus, benefit discriminating achieved through ultrasound, whereas absence conjunction abnormal (characterized low morphology index) mass surgery may required. Finally, can expected absent 80% patients Cancer 2009. © 2009 American Society.
