摘要: The fingernails of Mary Sullivan, the last victim Boston Strangler, were examined to determine if any genetic information about murderer could be obtained. nails extremely friable necessitating development new techniques for isolating and purifying DNA. DNA yields from optimized by using a NaOH-based preparation technique, which was simple, efficient, minimized handling. Methods selectively thoroughly removing exogenous material on also developed through use species-specific PCR assay, wherein mitochondrial nail easily differentiated contaminating cells.
