摘要: This study evaluated the thermogenic capacity of three species fruit-eating phyllostomid bats (Carollia perspicillata, Sturnira lilium and Artibeus lituratus) during dry-cool wet-warm seasons, by measuring changes in body mass, basal metabolic rate (BMR), maximal (MMR), nonshivering thermogenesis shivering thermogenesis. Body mass was lower, on average, season all showed an increase oxygen consumption after noradrenaline injection exposure to a He–O2 atmosphere. However, magnitude this similar both seasons. BMR also did not vary between Although, our results for first time that studied were able thermogenesis, we find significant differences any thermoregulatory variable measured when comparing data from two different Probably difference mean variance temperature profile seasons strong enough alter these species. Furthermore, use alternative physiological (torpor) or behavioral (huddling) strategies might have alleviated need trigger energetic-costly responses.
