摘要: Abstract : A brief experimental fire suppression study found that electrical charging of water mist can substantially reduce both the time and amount required to extinguish a pool fire. Another benefit was an increased spraying angle, which occurs even for low pressure sprays. It also much lower voltages than reported by other workers be very effective in extinguishing fires. The specific objectives were to: (1) compare motion charged uncharged droplets near flame (2) determine reduced extinguishment due electric mist. current program addressed ceiling sprinkler compartment fires, same principles should hold aircraft engine nacelle main technical problem encountered achieving uniform distribution over significant surface area with without charging. Promising results obtained despite this difficulty corrected additional work. This has achieved element 4d Next Generation Fire Suppression Technology Program funding provided optimize technology demonstrate its effectiveness on larger scale
