摘要: Abstract Many bridges built during the colonial times in Australia have timber girders as load transferring elements and they are still service with increased traffic loads consistent deterioration. Most of those notched at ends for better seating arrangement. Therefore, it is necessary to quantify strength characteristics order ensure structural safety make intervention extend their lives. Hence experimental tests were conducted on rectangular girder samples three different notch depths (i.e.10%, 15% 30% depth beam) having angle 1:4. Consequently, detailed finite element models developed girders, validated results. The model was used predict shear flexural strengths stiffnesses typical circular two spans (i.e. 6 m 9 m), angles 1: 0, 1:2 1:4) (i.e.15%, 45% o beam). Strength data compare applicability design provisions various standards. Experimental test results show that when from 45%, carrying capacity reduced by 50%. Whilst, reduction corresponding slightly low 37%). Further, changes 1:0 1:4, about 50%, 69% 110% 15%, respectively.
