摘要: In the emergency room setting, children with concussions often undergo computed tomography (CT) scan to assess for structural damage in brain. When specific clinical signs and symptoms are present, then a CT is essential underlying severe injury. Similarly, patient who initially clinically well appearing has deterioration over 48–72 h should be evaluated magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) damage. Both MRI, however, typically normal otherwise uncomplicated do not predict severity of concussion or guide postconcussion management. Newer techniques more sensitive detecting subtle, cellular-level changes associated concussion. Most newer yet established use protocols but offer promise future.
