摘要: Gesture and language development are strongly connected to each other. Two types of gestures in particular analyzed regarding their role for acquisition: pointing iconic gestures. With the present longitudinal study, predictive values index-finger at 12 months comprehension 3;0 years later skills typically developing (TD) children with a delay (LD) or developmental disorder (DLD) examined. Forty-two monolingual German primary caregivers participated study were followed longitudinally from 1;0 6;0 years. Within total 14 observation sessions, gestural abilities measured using standardized as well ad hoc tests, parent questionnaires semi-natural interactions between child caregivers. At age 2;0 years, 10 42 identified having LD. The ability point extended index finger year is 5;0 This effect mediated by correlates also earlier skills. It mediates value grammar Children LD develop understand iconicity than TD score lower tests until differences these two groups persist partially even when manifested DLD within group excluded analyses. Beyond that age, no without history found manifest excluded. findings support assumption an integrated speech-gesture communication system, which functions similarly DLD, but time delay.
