摘要: Abstract Ten narcoleptics off medication were compared to matched controls determine the pattern and level of electroencephalographic (EEG) vigilance, its relation performance ability on 1 h Wilkinson auditory vigilance task. The performed significantly more poorly spent less time in wakefulness than controls. EEG patients revealed continual fluctuations between wakefulness, stage 1A (slowed diffusing alpha) 1B (theta activity). Stage 2 sleep only occurred briefly 4 patients. Stages 3, REM never encountered. Controls continually awake aside from very brief appearances 5 subjects. Narcoleptic during stages was characterized by lapses (response omissions). Patients also demonstrated as well false positive responses 1A. Poorer even be related inability sustain over time. results clarify temporal physiological demonstrate insufficiency lapse-microsleep formulation explaining deterioration these
